Small to Medium Enterprises, or SMEs, don’t really understand what ASIC does or know a great deal about their compliance obligations. But ASIC has done something big to address the problem…
It was in the results of an online survey conducted by ASIC last year that it discovered the level of frustration among SMEs trying to deal with them.
The survey showed it was difficult to get information from ASIC and anything provided was hard to understand because it was full of legal jargon.
ASIC Commission Greg Tanzer is hoping that will all change with the launch this month of its new online hub specifically for SMEs.
“With small business accounting for 96 per cent of all businesses registered with ASIC, it’s important we provide information these customers need,” Mr Tanzer said.
“This hub is an information gateway and is designed to improve small business experiences with ASIC and help them better understand our role and how we can help.”
You can visit the hub HERE.
The hub features information on starting and closing a small business, legal requirements for small business operators, one minute guides on popular topics and access to ASIC’s new quarterly small business eNewsletter.
“We’ve invested considerable time in making our hub relevant and user-friendly and look forward to receiving feedback during ASIC’s next small business stakeholder survey in 2014,” Mr Tanzer said.
